When in doubt, OEM t-stat. Certain aftermarket parts have very high rates of failure. If there's still an issue you have some other problem.

I just ordered a factory stat, of course the dealer doesn't have any for a 4.0L in stock. only $20 too, and I've spent that much on aftermarket stats.

Seriously guys, coolant temp is low, I have flow way before the stat should open. And like I said the gauge is accurate and my Cooper thermometer doesn't lie.

Put some cardboard over half the radiator today, and drove It. still barely hits the first tick on the dash, about 150-160* with a 195 stat.

a thermostat isn't that complicated...

a spring and some wax, that's all it is.

I wish i had the problem of not getting hot enough... cover the rest of the radiator with cardboard. what's the outside temp?

Is your engine running ridiculously rich by any chance?

Oil filters aren't either. Yet cost-cutting manages to screw up even the simplest of tasks by using sub-par materials and processes.

It runs like its still cold, definitely more fuel.

Ambient is about 30*F, not that cold at all, I've seen 4.0s run right at 195-200 in -15*, that's why they have a stat.

I'll agree with that.

cut a $20 thermostat open and cut a $4 thermostat open, can you tell the difference?

cut a STP filter open and cut a puralator pure one

You may not SEE the difference in the stat, but the performance is noticeably different. 83501426AC is a good factory stat.

When u get the factory stat, be sure to test both 195 stats in a pan of water on top of the stove using an accurate thermometer to determine their open temp. If u still get cold reading after installing a tested stat, then u will know your temp readings r wacked. If you know temp readings r accurate but still low, then somehow someway an excessive amount of coolant is leaking/flowing by a closed stat to the radiator. Devil's in the details.

threw in the Mopar stat last night, perfect. warms right up and holds temp steady. no coolant flow until it warms up like it should. time to return the crappy stant ones.

Hard to get people to believe that....

They think Stant is good as it's an old name in the business. Name is all that's left in my book.

What part number did you get?
