running rough please give any ideas.
So I finally was able to get to working on my jeep, And the results were not good. the original post for this is https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/rough-idle-215053/ but anyways I cleaned the IAC and scrubbed down the throttle body real good. But to no avail. It is running quite rough, basically I want to know if this engine is just shot or what? I have no ideas at this point.
I was able to take a couple videos and maybe you guys could give some kind of insight.
I did clean the IAC valve as well but forgot to take pics.
But anyways. If anyone could tell me how screwed This thing is it would be nice.

In your previous thread, you mentions changing the plugs and wires. Did you also do the dizzy cap and rotor? That was the cause of a random misfire I was getting when I first bought my Jeep. Cheap and easy and should be done with the other general tune up parts.

As long as its a match set, I don't know if it matters all that much what brand it is. I also ran into misfire problems when the original coil cracked...must have been letting moisture in or something. You might check how strong of a spark you're getting at the plugs. Snappy blue spark is what you need for a smooth running engine. When my coil cracked, I was getting a spark closer to yellow.

So, I took out the plugs inspected them some were a bit ****ed up.... and I was getting no spark on cyl 1 while cranking, went got full tune up set (spark plugs/wires, cap n rotor) and still no spark and now also won't start, what might i have ****ed up? Is there some wire I might have bumped or something? I know I'm getting fuel and the engine is definitely trying. but no spark what should I be looking at?

I found a few videos about 88 jeeps you can unplug the CPS for 5 min and plug back in and it could fix this issue, however I cant find that little guy. Is it in a different place in my year? I thought the engines were the same 94 and 88. any input highly appreciated

Hmmm.. I guess you gotta be there. I watched both the videos and I really don't see anything wrong with how it's running in either of them. The gauges all seem to be showing normal readings and it sounds like it's idling steady. It sounds a bit louder than it should and the sounds off a bit. I'm thinking if anything some sort of gas/air mix problem?

I guess its hard to tell in the video, but its running very rough and the oil pressure guage is bouncing.

What plugs and wires are you running?
It probably sounds like a stupid question but are you sure you have the correct positions on the cap to the correct plug? Firing sequence?
Spark plugs gapped correctly?
The only other thing I can think of for missing spark is the ignition coil cutting out intermittently.

Check the wires out compared to this to be sure.
