Bringing this back again. I replaced the water pump, tstat, and fan clutch last year and since then everything had been running perfect. Last week when it started to get hot again, the jeep would just creep up to right at the red and then id turn the heat on to keep it cool till I could get home. Any ideas of what it might could be? I know the rads the last part left and ill probably go on and replace it but it worked fine before the winter with the other new cooling parts. Im beginning to really consider that the head gasket is going out.

If it was the rad, you could try to flush it if it isn't leaking. If it's leaking, then that is probably your problem. What about your rad cap? Is it holding pressure?

Thats a good question. I havent really put much thought into it. Overflow never seems to change levels and after driving it earlier this week I pulled the cap off within 20 minutes of driving without thinking and nothing shot out at me. I guess it wouldnt hurt to swap it. Also under the cap is a brownish fluid around where the cap seats but the coolant is nice and green.
