I got a 180 thermo in my '98 now, doesn't get remotely close to 210, and I got power galore, but at a price...
You WILL go thru more gas with a cooler thermo since the engine and all its sensors are not running at optimum temp...
You have to get a programmer or performance chip to take advantage of a cooler thermostat and not make the computer spaz out...

I'd say thank your lucky stars, every Jeep I have overheats at some point in time (hence the 180-stat). Sounds like that thing is working excellent... Did you put a 180 in it when you changed it?

My thermostat was frozen completely open for 6 months, my engine temp wouldnt go hotter than 120 degrees. I didnt notice poorer mileage, but I needed to make a road trip this winter and wanted heat, so I swapped it out and all is fine, normal operating temp.

Although, I must have bumped the temp sensor becuase now occasionally the guage drops to zero, triggers the "Check Engine" light. Like it loses the signal or something. Then within 1/2 hour it comes back, but that CE light stays on for about 200 miles.

Double check the connection on the sensor mounted in the thermo housing...

Thanks. I had assumed the sensor fitting was in a far more complicated location, and I admit I paid a mechanic to change my thermostat. (I dont have a garage, and that week it was 15 degrees out!). I'll see if the connection needs cleaning or is maybe not reconnected right. Right now it's kind of annoying.
