Default rubbing noise in 4wd...help!!

so when i went off roading a couple days ago i did the usual. put it in 4wd hi and kept on going through the trails. well half way through the trails it stops being straight and there are some turns to go around. when i was turning either way there is a rubbing noise from the front end. i have stock height cherokee with 4" BS cragar rims and p235/75 r15 tires. im pretty sure there not rubbing (ill check soon) but what else could it be?? some kind of u joint for a certain area in the front end? thanks

sounds like it could be a u joint going. jack up the front end and check everything out. do you only hear the noise when in 4wd?

i think you look for a loose drive shaft?? once your front axle is in the air that is

check all your u joints when you have the jeep lifted. check for movement. there shouldn't really be any movement in the u joints. they should be tight.

put it on jack stands and turn the wheels see if you can pin point the noise. I once had this rubbing noise turned out it was the brake dust shield was bent and was rubbing esp in the mud. but if its in 4wd only that would rule that out.

ok so i have somewhat of an update. when i fully lock the wheels to the left and right there is a rubbing noise from the front end also and that is in 2wd. i dont know if that will help at all at determining if its a u joint problem or not but i just felt it while driving. it was like a rub then almost like it missed or something, it felt like the tire slid on the pavement. idk how to explain it better than that.

did u try to put it on jack stands and listen to see where the noise is coming from???? use a helper to turn the wheel while the wheels are moving.

Unless you have a spacer or offset rims, the more they stick out the more they stick in

i have 4.0" offset cragar wheels on my p235 75/r15's thats why i dont think they would be rubbing and i just checked full lock to the left and right and they have atleast 2 inches until they get dangerously close to the wheel well mud guard thing. could driveshaft u joints cause this noise? i plan on checking them sometime soon but just want to know if they even could cause this. thanks
