my 35x15.50s rub because they're to wide, I was wandering if I might be able to fit 37x12.50s under it without rubbing?

They should you have a nine inch lift but have you regeared your axles? If you haven't I would not recommend it.

rubbing on the control arm in the front and inner fender in back. Have not done any regearing yet. Was coming back to indiana the other day from florida and transfer case shattered so top priority is another case right now, just trying to figure out which one right now.

Default late 70's dodge rims for your xj.

If you are looking for a budget backspacing fix, go to your junkyard and find some rims off a 75-79 dodge 150. They will get you going, provided you can handle riding on 15's.
