Default Rubber Mat in Fender Wells

2001 XJ Sport

So, My tires are rubbing on those stupid rubber matts in the fender wells. Well, one came loose and as I looked, theres a gap that I can see behind the panel. So long story, short, can it be pulled down without any adverse effects?

If you are talking about the plastic inner fenders, then no, you dont need them.

Are these the creatures that some people replace with pool noodles to keep the wind noise down?

Yes people will take a pool noodle and jam it in behind the tire so that if you go through mud it doesnt fill up your door jam

ok so first, grab with whatever hand is stronger, left or right, then once you have grabbed it, you tear it out... simple as that

Youll get mud caked in there, could potentially result in rust. I had mine out in my 88 and always got **** caked up in there and it would just fall out over time. You can pull it out and stuff a noodle in there.. Ive seen somewhere where someone fabbed some diamond plate to go back in there..made it look mega clean.
