Default RPM ISSUE!!

My car has been acting funny...when i bought the car it was ok, i just replaced the transfer case on it, altho am not getting a electrical Light "part time" or what not! also the main issue with my AUTOMATIC TRANS is that when I drive, it shifts to reverse or Drive with no jerk or problem, however my problem is that it seems like a manuel transmission and RPM will rev forever up all the way till 5000, but doesnt want to shift to the next gear i could drive 20 miles before the next gear it may catch, eventually it catches but it also would get in and out...CAN ANYONE HELP ME...

I'd say adjust the TV cable and maybe get the trans reverse flushed. Sounds like an actuator or something is sticking...
Then put a new filter and stuff on it...
