I have a 1999 jeep Cherokee sport. And I was having problems with it always stalling when i came to a stop and randomly misfiring when going like 70 mph and i was told to replace the pick up coil so i did and now it runs a lot better except when trying starting it up and when at idle. it starts up good like 50% of the time but the rest of the time it takes like 5 minutes of me giving it gas to get it going. I was told that my timing was off by a friend of mine but when i called the shop they said that you cant set the timing on a 4.0? I also replaced the distributor cap and rotor yesterday but that didn't seem to help anything. any ideas?

I would clean the IAC and throttle body. Also, how are the spark plugs?

Spark plugs/wires are only a few months old and look good

I had a simular problem just recently, I replaced the IAC and cleaned the throttle body and it took care of it ...same issue as you describe...
