I cleared and checked codes. None. I listened to the injectors and they all sound good. Replaced the fuel filter and repaired a vacuum line. No change.

The hesitation is very slight. Slight miss. Was bouncing on the throttle a few times trying to make it stall. Smelled like it was running rich.

Also noticed a hard to start condition. Like I had to prime it 4 times to get it to start. Very rough when it started then began to level out to a small rough idle condition.

I really want to finish this project. I can't get anything completely done. Soooo many problems. Ha.

Old jeeps are like old Harleys, expect work needed to be done almost every weekend. Does the needle move back n forth on the egr when just idling? Not sure how to test it, but the map sensor sounds like trouble. If not the tps. Your jeep is a 2000? Original parts are only 15 years. But weather where its been could be harsh. My jeep still surges a bit but at a low enough level and not all the time. But its a strong runner. I think all xj's take a little long to turn over. I even notice it in movies with xj's. I'm trying to remember the critical point in which my xj ran a million times better. Back then my user name was Windsor 90 Laredo. Surging idle mainly while in gear was a thread. Oh, before I forget. Does a bunch of carbon spots (water) come out your tail pipe even after its warmed up? Other things I notice is the simple stuff can solve the biggest problems. Are the spark plugs in good shape? I'm a lazy dinosaur with computer technology, but if I figure how to post pics n vids ill send one to you.

Mine is a 94 cherokee.

I'm not sure what you mean by the egr needle. I haven't checked this and not sure what to check. I'll google it.

I've checked the power to the MAP sensor. That's the correct voltage. Not sure how to check the MAP itself.

Yes, I noticed water coming out of the tailpipe this weekend. It was hot as hell outside and the jeep was almost at operating temp (many starts and playing with the throttle and listening). I chalked it up to condensation.

Plugs should be okay. I've swapped them and the wires twice. However, I didn't use Champion....
