I just wanted to share my recent tune up experience with you guys. I am very good about changing the oil every 3k and sometimes 2.5k just to keep piece of mind. The PO told me he gave it a full tune up (plugs, wires, cap, and rotor) when I bought it about a year and a half ago, but was driven around 8k miles. It ran good, but it would vibrate a little bit when sitting at a stoplight like I needed new motor mounts or a trans mount. Changing the oil helped but I figured I'd give her the whole nine yards and go ahead with another tune up, you can never completely trust PO's work.

Tune up, no problem. Only took about 30 minutes and I was ready to start it up and listen to my hard work pay off. When I turned it over it was better, but it still left some to be desired. It was still a little rough and loud. There was an exhaust leak that I have heard get worse and worse the past few months and I decided just for s**ts and giggles to check the manifold bolts. #'s 4 and 5 were finger loose!! Talk about a free mod! After I tightened them up it is running better than it ever has before. No more exhaust leak, less rattles because it's running so much smoother, better throttle response because the exhaust isn't leaking, and better gas mileage because theres no more air leaking in my intake manifold (intake and exhaust share same gasket).

This might belong in the talk section, but it helped me so much to get under there and take a good look at things, that I'm sure it will help someone else out! It pays to know your vehicle and to not take shortcuts! Spend a little extra time investigating or thinking about things and you never know what you'll come up with.
