Default Rough Country Adjustable Shackles Install

I ordered these shackles from Rough Country for $51 shipped and got them three days later. Here they are:

Looks well built. I like the adjustability of 1.5" or 2" of lift. I will be installing these next weekend so I will do a write up then.

I do have a question though. Why are there two sets of bolts, one longer than the other? I thought maybe the longer ones would be to bolt the upper part to the frame but it comes with four locking nuts and 8 washers. The locknuts are different too. Confused....

My guess would be that one set goes through the shackle to the frame ( ones without the nut). And the other would go throu the shackle and the leaf spring. Could you post more pictures of the adjustability that these have. I'm having a hard time seeing how they adjust.

I just put of my Rough Country lift kit and it came with shackles and the same bolts. I just used the factory bolt to bolt into the frame and the smaller bolts. I wish I knew what the other bolts were for. My guess its for multiple applications.

That's what i was thinking too. Maybe other vehicles use this shackle too and require the upper bolt and nut to attach it to the vehicle, unlike the cherokees which have the nut already welded to the frame. I wonder if the thread is the same as the factory bolt because i will have to cut mine off for sure. They are seized to the metal sleeve

Looks pretty self explanatory Once you crawl under there and look at the old one you will see exactly what you have to do.

yeah i'll take a picture with both. It'll be roughly 5.5" high with both aal and shackle. I think the shackle install will be a headache though since the frame bolts are seized to the bushings. I don't have a sawzall so i'm gonna have to cut the crap out of the stock shackles with my cut off wheel. gonna be fun.....
