Ok, so no haters ok?
I have 265,000 on 'ol red and have used Valvoline 10w-30 since new.
I also use FRAM oil and air filter exclusively and she is still running great.
now, after twenty yrs and that many miles I am losin some power at top end, but my fuel mileage is still up pretty good and she still cranks right up.
just my two cents.

Touchy subject, in 1991 the 4.0 was released with Mopar MPI, Injectors, larger T Body and a slightly improved head design, those were really the only things that changed. Wasnt til 1996 that chrysler really did much to the engine. Started going downhill from there.

Your oil pressure is lower with a 40 wt than mine with a 30 wt. I know 30 wt is the same at operating temp, but am gonna go 0W-30 next go round. Then lower wt if that doesnt bring it dow a bit.

Better watch your postings. I am more of a professional tech than you are I know. I do not work for a dealership, refuse to do warranty work. I have worked for Ford, Isuzu, International, Mack, Volvo Hvy Trk. Currently run my own auto/ diesel shop. Some of us are far from "backyard" anything.

So those of you who have regularly used 5W-40 to good effect, what is the climate like where you live and what kind of driving conditions do you experience? Do you use it in your daily driver?

I live in western Michigan. Our daily highs have been in the lower to mid teens, lows below 0 not factoring in wind chill. I don't have any startup chatter and my oil is almost as clean as it was going in during an oil change as it does coming out. Mine is my DD, I use 4WD daily to get out of where I park and to get through some bad side roads (part-time TC). I do about 65% highway and 35% city driving. No leaks, no smells, no nothing.
