Default Roof Rack Quesiton

I am in the market for a roof rack. I noticed that every Cherokee in the pictures have the black bumpers on the roof. (I know thats not what they are called but you know what I mean) My XJ doesnt have those black rails. I found a roof rack at JCROFFROAD that I like. Would I be able to use this rack with out those black rails?
Here's the link - http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=RCK

Thanks

If by bumpers you are referring to the factory roof rack rails then yes, it should mount up no problem. It appears to be a gutter mount rack so it should be compatible with any XJ with or without the factory rack. If anything, since you don't have the factory rack, the JCR should look even better up there!

i think the surco roof racks mount to the gutters. and theyre actual baskets, the jcr one doesnt really make sense to me haha. it's not really a roof rack, just some pieces of steel put together.

i have the JCR rack you don't need the rails it bolts to the gutter rail on the side, i'm happy with mine though make sure it has the reinforced tire carrier, mine broke around the weld but they have made good on it and they have said they have modified it with better gussets

I couldn't be happier with my Surco. It is light enough for me to easily handle alone, but it is surprisingly strong. I have stood on it several times. It doesn't make any rattles or creeks with a 31" up top.

I have a safari rack from Warrior Products and I love it. It has very beefy gutter mounts, makes no noise has a very strong spare tire mount and an optional airdam for the front. Plus you can buy mounts for different things like shovel Hi Lift, ax, its cool not to have to mess with that stuff. This one isnt mine its just a picture from there website.
