Roof molding removal

Roof molding removal
The paint on the roof of my 2001 XJ is starting to blister. I plan to sand down and repaint soon. Does anyone know how the 4-6 strips of molding running from front to back on the roof are attached? I am assuming it's just adhesive.
These are the strips that run between and in-line with the roof rack rails.
