Rod & Main Bearing Sizes?
Hey, guys. I need to do the rod bearings on my little 2.5 and found a place to get a rod + main bearing kit for about $150. Only problem is I don't know what size I'll need....there's .010, .020, .030, etc. First time (that I know of) this would have been done, so what would you all recommend?
Piston #4 rod knock at idle, oil pressures; 30+ at idle cold, 45+ under power cold. 10-15 at idle hot, around 40 cruising at 55 hot. Knock confirmed by disabling cylinder 4 injector to see if it went away and it did.
Here's the kit I found: http://www.cleggengine.com/amc-ohv-4...1991-1995.html

You take motor out and take it to machine shop. Crank and block needs to be checked out. Then you will have the information you need for ordering them.

Oh, didn't know what....I knew I'd have to pull the motor, though. Any idea how much a place would charge for that?

There casting number on block that tell what was factory but unless you bought brand new there useless if motors been rebuilt already.

I'm pretty sure it's never been rebuilt before. 177,500 on the clock and still has decent power for a 4 banger.
