Ok upgrading the 6.5 short to 8.0 long arm Already in the prossess, I run tsl's now 36/12.50/15 I am getting new tires and whanted some feedback. it is eathor going to be LTb or rockers 40 ltb's or the 39.5X1650-15LT/C pitbull rocker.
I dont think i am too much of a fan of the 16 inch wide tire but herd pitbulls are a great tire tell me what u think, I have the 4 seasons here in PA and wheel everythning from whorton state forest mud pits to pocono rockie mountian sside . Any feedback would be reat thanks.

Pitbulls sidewalls are way stiff and you have to run single didgits to break them in. On the other side LTBs have somewhat thin sidewalls compaired to other Swampers and tend to tear easily. The Pitbulls will weigh about 60lbs more, hope you are running tons, and I personnally don't care for a tire that wide.

ltb's are outdated tires in the swamper line......i have personal experiance with 38.5x12.5 boggers and loved them on a k5 i had (sucked on road but i had other trucks to drive)...and i also hope you got 3/4ton driveline and steep gears

come one guys. why you asking about what axles? the question was which type of tire you would suggest or opinions on them. he is already running 36s and wanting to go up to 40s. so i would think he might have a few tricks up his sleeve. and even if he is running a 30/35 combo that wasnt what this thread was geared towards.

i would say go with the pitbulls or km2s thats just my 3 pennies short of a nickle.

Plus I personally don't want to be behind the guy running 40s on stock axles, cause when he breaks, not if, I don't want to be stuck. I wouldn't run 40s on my front 44 with chromos because I know I'd break it.

so have i...i also just had to rescue a yj with 36s and a busted axle last week (he welded his spiders with don't help) still on the edge of strenth...also he states he wheels hard so big axles are a must... and one last $0.02 on tires, alot of noise about the new goodyear kevlar lately i haven't seen them personally but it seems that they are getting alot of exposure (could just be because its goodyear)

dana 30 frount locked and chrysler 8.35 rear for now but almost done mocking up my 60"s for the new lift and tires.. And with the 36's i have broken 3 axels and 2 sets of ball joints in the woods... always have a spare though and got the electric impact, actually just spent 3 houres laying in the river today changing out an axle and 2 ball joints which is why i am upgrading to the 60's

39.5" Rockers only measure 37.5" with 30psi and they're too wide & look like balloons. They perform well though.

If you have 35 spline 1 tons & deep gears I'd go with 41.5" Radial Rockers but they're pricey. Get a 14 Bolt rear, bulletproof & much stronger than a Dana 60 rear.

Or if that's too tall, I'd prob go with the 40" LTBs over the 39.5" bias Rockers. They're both very heavy tires. Both very good

Or even a 39.5" Irok is a great tire. It's narrower & lighter.

Are u planning on running H1 Beaslocks? They are narrow wheels, but a wide tire mounts up fine on them. Great wheel for only $38.50 each + shipping.

They're 16.5x8.5 with 7" backspacing
8x6.5 pattern

Rockers will shine on the rocks and the ltb's will be shine in the mud. This is from having buddies run the rockers and i've ran 34" ltb's before. The ltb's flat out do work in the mud. I'm not a fan of rockers so out of the two I would run ltb's. I would even choose iroks over rockers.
