Default Rocker panel replacement

So I just bought a 99' XJ this morning for $300. I couldnt pass up the deal. Unfortunately with the price comes some issues. The intake and exhaust manifolds were removed to fix a cracked exhaust manifold , it was never put back together ,it needs a full exhaust ,and of course rotten rocker panels. Have any of you replaced the rockers on yours? I know the price is fairly cheap for them but im just wondering how big of a job is it? This is my 6th xj but i have always sold my other ones before the rockers rotted out .it has 150k on it and im just wondering if its worth all the grief and aggravation. Ive got the tools and the know how I just havent tackled this job before.

If the rockers are gone, how are the floors?

These folks make decent replacement rockers:

I'm in the middle of doing 2x6 rocker replacement and for that price its worth doing. It's gonna take a some work but its not too bad. Can you weld ? If so then I'd recommend buying some 1/8 2x2 angle iron 1" 1/8 and 3 16th box steel and make some replacement sliders. there's some good write ups out there if you search I'll try and post some pictures of mine when I get a chance

Yeah i can weld . and it was definatly a killer deal . The floor on the passenger side will need some sheetmetal work the drivers side isnt as bad but the rocker does need to be replaced to.

$300 is one heck of a deal. The rockers aren't too bad to do provided there's still something solid left to attach them to. The steel tube sliders are a nice option too.

I did 2x3 in place of the factory rockers . Lots of work but worth it imo
