My rocker panels are rusted out BAD! How would I go about taking these off and making new ones? Doesn't have to look pretty or be real beefy, I'm not much of a rock crawler, just want to stop having rust flakes fall off every time something touches my rig.

check some build threads. ill bet there is someone who has some pics up. basically, get new sheet metal in where needed, and then bolt up sliders to the new... nice and vague, huh...?

Best bet would be weld in rockers. Functional and good looks. All you need is a piece of 2x6x3/16 steel and an afternoon. Thats what I did when mine started to rust and then I got t-boned.

yeah, i would go with the 2x6 and weld those in place. but first you have to cut out the rusted rocker but leave just the top lip to sorta wrap around the top of the 2x6 when you weld it in. cap the ends and it'll look nice.

or you can buy replacement panels for 50 bux each. you can buy just one and cut it in half and replace the rear section if that's all that's rotting out. here in canada there's a place called cross-canada auto parts, not sure where you get them in the U.S. tho.

I have a 98 too and my rockers are also rusted out, I was just planning on welding in some 2x6" steal beam or something as a rocker/slider all in one deal.

Rockauto has them for 20 each four door, and 17 each 2 door, just look under a 1994 model. All Cherokee rockers are the same. Make sure you order the correct ones 2d or 4d.
