Default Roaring/Grinding Sound When Pulling Away

Got a 98 Cherokee, 4.0L. Lately when pulling away from a dead stop (red light, stop sign) there is a roaring or grinding sound. Hard to tell where it's coming from. Maybe the front or transmission? I did check the transmission fluid and it was low so I added some but the sound is still there. I have also noticed a slow leak at the rear differential. Any clues?? I'm not a tech and really limited on what I can do myself, so any suggestions as to the cause of this will be helpful.

It's my son's Jeep. He says it sounds like it's coming from the front right. I think it's coming from under foot. It doesn't last long so it may stop after 1st gear.

well if its coming from the rear, sounds like the pinion bearing is shot in the rear end. could probably feel it through the floor also

Get the Jeep up on jack stands and start turning wheels by hand. You may find brakes or bearings to be the cause of your noise.
