Rim Question
I have 15x7 rims. Whats the largest tire I can fit safely? Could I fit 31x10.50x15? Or a 30x9.5x15? Right now I run 235/75/15's.
These rims are the old Jeep Alloy wheels that say Jeep on them.

So a 9.5 works great. And the 10.50 should? There is a nice tire at wally world I want. But want to make sure my rims will work for it. They are the goodyear wrangler authority and only come in 31x10.50x15. Pretty sweet tire.
Has anyone ran 31x10.50x15 on their rims? Also if I did run that tire on my 15x7 rim would I need anything else on top of a 3" lift? Do I need backspacing?

Ya I have seen that tire and its sweet. I have 4in BS and I have 3.5 in of lift on 30x9.5x15. 4" in BS seems to be good for mostly everything I have seen

Can I get by with no back spacing? Trying to save the $$. I really like the look of the tire out to the sides but do I really need the back spacing? Will it help with rubbing and stuff?

Well you have some backspacing now every rim does its just how much. What rims do you have. You can measure it. It is the number from the lugnut holes to the outer edge of the inside of the rim. Make sense. I think I lost myself in that.

Ok you really confused me there. I have the Jeep Alloy wheels pictures are in my profile if you check out my Jeep. They say Jeep and they are 5 spoke. The rims are way out frm the lug nuts. They really just let the lug nuts grab just enough to get a good tight. My old rims I would have to screw the lugs on alot to get them to get anywhere near tight.

Ok Im sorry after I wrote it i got lost. lol if you look your rim and laid it down outside down, then put a strait edge acrossed the rim(the part that goes in) and then measured from where your rim hits your hub thats your back spacing.

Ya these rims go way in. Like 5 inches from the outside of the rim to the back inside of the rim. Is that good or bad? They are made like a face and not deep at all so there is alot of sace behind the outside of the rim to the inner edge of the rim. I would assume that this is bad for big tires because it wouldnt space it out much at all since it brings it way in right?

Well I would say get different rims but who knows. I ran a 30x9.5 on one of those rims. Well it was in the back with no problems. I would say at full turn you would rub your lca. But someone else can chime in at anytime that may know better. Are you planning on new rims at all?

I worked at a tier shop for a wile over a year. You can run up to a 12.50 rim on a 8 inch rim. But on a jeep a 12.50 with a stock 8 inch you will rub on the lower control arm and sway bar. The widest on a xj/mj is 11.50 I have run it with no rub. So yes you can run a 10.50.

His rim is a 7" wide I belive. I dont think a 10.5 will be a problem but then again Im not a tire person. I know I ran a 9.5 on a 7"
