Suspect swaybar bushings first.
You could remove the sway links and test drive it.
Everything in the front suspension is new.

It's not a squeak noise, it's the spring rubbing against the sway bar end. I can see the rub marks on the sway bar.

What's interesting to me is searching for the longer links.

Do a search for XJ Jeep Cherokee XJ Front Sway Bar End Links, and you get hundreds of options.

Do a search for 1990 Jeep Cherokee XJ Front Sway Bar End Links for 2 Lift, and everything disappears. Even 3" links are hard to find, or I ain't searching right. (would it be blasphamy to put 3" links with a 2" lift?)

WTF? What's the story with the Renix Cherokees? Anybody know?

RENIX is older jeeps (1990?) Combination Renault and Bendix.

For 2" lift, the swaybar is sometimes dealt with by using brackets that mount to frame-rail and drop the bar, rather than making the links longer. Not compatible with the front stock skid plate.
I customized my links by cutting and welding them to correct length.

Here you go, Turbo. Looking at these pics, I can see the spring is flexing forward, so I'm convinced the problem is a tired spring. If you look very carefully, you can see the spring bowing towards the front. (especially on the third picture)

Also interesting is the piece of rubber that's being held by a tie wrap. I'm not sure how I missed that.

The bump-stop tower has a lot of forward tilt. Is something bent in the fenderwell?
The huge spacer along with the stock isolater aggravates the coil bind/curve.

Hey monger,

I'm not sure how much of that forward tilt can be somewhat attributed to the camera being slightly tilted when I took the pic.

The right side is almost exactly the same, but just barely misses making contact. (A miss is as good as a mile)

The original owner tells me it's never been in an accident. For that matter, it hasn't even been abused. (older woman driver who had a interior decorating business)

What would you suggest I do to remedy the situation?

OK, photo perspective makes sense, there is some tilt designed into those towers. However, the coil spring is designed to sit at base (top) of tower. By adding the large spacers, the spring gains leverage on that mount, and the spacer looks like it is placing an angle on the top base of spring, giving spring the forward bow.
If the spring is full length it will have less of a tendency to push or bow outward.

The coil bucket (axle side coil base) can also aggravate spring bowing if it is not level, yours looks level however.

I would ditch those spacers and get full-length coils, leave on the stock rubber isolaters.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Getting my hands on full length coils is going to be a challenge due to the cost of shipping/customs duties.

I may just try replacing the spring and see what happens. That's the most economical choice for me.

I give an update once I take some action.

Default Shipping woes

I see, have you looked into Amazon.com shipping policy and price?
Thing is, 2" lift springs have limited manufacturers. Old Man Emu makes them and are engineered to offer the best ride compared to other lift springs. Made in Australia.
I may be able to help find a vendor willing to ship. For starters, here is one with a note to International customers at bottom of page.

Thanks for the link.

I use a mail forwarding service from Miami to get everything. Incoming shipments run north of 2.50 a pound just for freight, and then Customs steps in and charges the bejesus out of every thing.

When you consider the average wage in this country is only about 200 dollars a month, those charges really add up, to the point it's almost prohibitively expensive to buy anything.

When all is said and done, delivered to my door can run as much as the item itself.

I'm gonna pull off the spring and take another look at what's going on under there. I've got the feeling I didn't do something right.

I'll post what I find out.

I have heard of these shipping woes from other members also.
If the package was marked as 'gift', would that bypass the customs fee?
What if someone purchased it here in the states, on your behalf, then mailed it to you as a gift? Could use Paypal.

I have shipped to Puerto Rico and the charges were the same as shipping within the states due to it being a U.S. Territory.

Many people from here go to Dominican Republic for kiteboarding and surfing, but it would be tough to add 30 pounds of springs to their luggage. lol

I contacted this seller for shipping quote. This is a great vendor in the States.

It really sucks for buying stuff down here. PR and DR are two completely different worlds.

Now the good news: we jacked it up this morning, and started fooling around with the spring, and it popped into place at the base. I can't tell you what happened, other than it "sat down" a little differently and now, VOILA' No more "RIKEE RIKEE!!!!"

I am absolutely beside myself. I went out and drove across speed bumps a bunch of times just to confirm. Cool Beans!

You need to come down to the DR sometime and check it out yourself. I'm pretty sure you'd have a lot of fun, with a handle like that.. LOL
