Default Riding Rough

Lately my 99 xj (stock) has been riding a little rough. Seems as thought it drifts back and forth a bit and has a slight bouncy rough feel to it while driving. I am thinking shocks and struts? its got 135,000 miles on it and I've had it since 70,000 and I know i've never changed them.

I would be looking at all the bushings especially the control arms and trackbar along with the shocks.

when was the last time it was aligned? balljoints replace?

I had all that stuff checked out last fall and it was aligned at the same time.

Drifts back and forth? If you have a bit of play in your steering before the vehicle responds, have your tie rod ends checked. Checking other front end bushings as others have mentioned is a good idea. Check your swaybar links as well. The ball joint in them can suddenly fail and leave your front end feeling loose. At one time or another, I've had both the front links fail on my TJ, usually while going down the highway, and it makes a big difference in the on-road feel, especially when one is holding and the other is shot.

If the back end seems to be bouncy (as apposed to stiff and bumpy) I'd suspect worn rear shocks. Do you notice a lot of up and down oscillation after going over a dip in the road, like at an intersection? That's usually indicative of worn/blown shocks.

X2 Shocks are probably finished. Check if they are leaking.
