00' Cherokee 2WD Trans Output Sft Bearing Replacement Help
I have a 00' Cherokee 2WD.
While changing my oil I thought I'd check out the driveshaft and noticed that the tail shaft is weeping oil. I pushed up on the driveshaft and saw that the output shaft is able to move up and down slightly. I suppose this is because the bearing is failing and needs to be replaced.
Is the bearing easy to remove? Like pull the driveshaft, pull the old seal, remove a circlip and pull the bearing out with a right angle tool?
Or is it pressed in and need a puller?
Or is it neither?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

More than likely its just the seal that is bad...however if it is the output shaft bearing you will need to remove the trans's rear cone. I am assuming you have an auto when telling this. Look at the seal first before the bearing. Some play is normal... if memory serves me correct anything over a 1/4 of an inch is getting excessive. If it moves more than a half an inch then maybe its the bearing. I would check the seal first.
