Default Revving trans, TONS of error codes, Not sure what it all means

Hi, I've been having a few issues with my 98 Cherokee 4.0L. It started at the beginning of the summer with all the hot weather. Most of the time (not all) after I've been driving for a while, once I stop and put it in park the rpm will go up to about 15 (as opposed to the ~8 that it's normally at). Its also starting to do this even when I first start it up. Also now if I'm in drive and at a stop light or something the rpms will drop for no reason for a few seconds, then surge back up to the point I can feel the jeep trying to jump forward. It's also stalled out a couple times when the rpms drop. I finally went to Advance and got a read out and got this....
1. p1682- charging output low
  • I think this might just be a connection to my battery, the screws on my current connection to the battery terminal are stripped and I don't think it has a good connection. I'm replacing it today.
2. p1491- radiator for relay circuit
  • I've seen a few people with this who say they're overheating, but I'm not having that issue.
3. p0545- exhaust gas temp sensor circuit low (bank 12)
4. p0443- evaporative emission purge solenoid control circuit
5. p0123- Throttle position sensor voltage high
6. p0320- Ignition reference/crank circuit
7. p0301- Cylinder 1 misfire
  • I'm guessing this just might be a spark plug (hopefully?)
8. p0138- O2 sensor short to voltage bank 1, sensor 2
9. p0121- Throttle Position signal
10. p0700- Transmission control system (malfunction indicator lamp request)
11. p0705-Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit (park/reverse/neutral/drive/low input)
  • I've found a few things in the forum dealing with 0700 and 0705 and a few people have a link to this page at JP. I am having the reverse light issue (sometimes they work, sometimes not), so I think I'm going to try this.
Soooo, sorry this is so long but I don't know which of these error codes are related and which are separate. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

its not really so much the codes that I'm worried about, just the stalling and irregular revving of the engine when I put it in park and sometimes when I'm idling forward in D. I just posted the codes in case someone recognized one or two of them as being related to what's happening and had any suggestions on how I should fix it. Thanks,
S

try using other working xj sensors till it stops stalling...
that's another thing i would do.

stalling can be caused by a lot of things bad sensors, air, fuel, power, motor and trans mounts, bad fuel pump....
i would ask a friend to come over with his xj and swap the tps check if it got the issue solved.... no ok then go for the map.... no ok pcm.... no.. till i finally got the cause, but thats just me and i would do that if i had no idea of what was causing the stalling.
you can try erasing the codes and wait for the fresh codes or anything else.
just my 2cents.

edit: i just read what i wrote and don't really know why i wrote that.

rpm NOT stalling
check sensors... and i meant another xj sensors
sorry about that
