I did this to my 94 Cherokee this past weekend and followed a post on you tube from Bleeping Jeeps. It was a very easy process to follow and complete with basic mechanical skills. I bought a pack of bulb grease for $1.50 and it worked great. I actually rebuilt both the one on my wife's daily driver and the one on my donor jeep in the back yard and the one on my wife's was in bad shape and would not work even after being repaired. Thankfully the one off my donor jeep was in good shape and rebuilt nicely. The problem with my wife's daily driver was literally use. @390K the copper contacts in the NSS wear literally worn down where there was not enough left for the spring to push against the copper slide. Definitely leave the nut on the NSS once you loosen it a turn or 2 max, then use an angled pry bar to gently pry it off. I cleaned the entire casing and made it look new again. Reverse lights work great now.
