Default Retrain the ECU? Need help. 1992 XJ 4.0

Ok, I pulled my battery yesterday to work on my ignition key tumbler. I remember reading somewhere that you need to "retrain" the ECU. Something like "Key in Run.. Select Drive, Reverse".. Something like that. Anyone have the procedure handy?

Thanks!

Only way I ever knew to retrain the ECU was to drive it. I think it's preset with factory specs and learns the new curve based on how you drive and what it senses from the components.

Yep ODBI that methods works and that's what the FSM says to do. Once you do it drive it around and it will relearn everything. If you take it to the dealership they will do that anytime they replace something that is a sensor or is managed by the computer.

If you have an ODBII setup I think you have to use one of the reader things to reset it.
