Default Replacing trans inverse torx bolts!?

Ok so shop apparently stripped them and werent even tightened.
Irrelevant really cause I wanna replace them anyway.
Issue is, I cant find the exact length. I bought a few to try, some 1/4 shorter, others a 1/4 longer than the stock ones. Also, what grade are the Home Depot bolts? Nowhere did it say their grade or strength. Can I assume HD zinc bolts will be strong enough?

Any input greatly appreciated!!!! Need asap

Image says 1988-1996 only because these catalogs give the bolt dimensions, 1997-2001 catalogs do not but these bolts are applicable for '97-'01 as well. Used them on my '99.

Lowes/Home depot do not carry these bolts. Ace hardware may have them. I found mine at a hardware that carries Hillman hardware.

You can grind the longer ones to the right length.

Try Fastenal or McMaster-Carr if you have trouble finding them.

I'd clamp the 1/4" in a vice, saw it off then dress the end with a file. 10 minute gob if you have the tools.

Town is 1/2 hr, (and a gallon) each way. I've shortened plenty of bolts. Now if I could just saw 1/4 ON to a bolt.

Yep. Nothing at all wrong with it. Thread a nut on it, cut, file, remove nut to chase the threads. Done.

Every bit as good as store bought.

Cant shorten the bolts guys. None that I have found has the threads all the way to the bolt head. Unless of course it's the fkn shorter ones...
Was able to finally find grade 5 that was 2". Grade 8 washers, enough to take up the 1/4".
Hopefully these will work, cause it has been hard as all hell to find a graded bolt, let alone the exact size needed.

See post #2 for dimensions and grade. Grade 5 won't hack it.

Fastenal. Grade 8. 3/8-16". A bit long @ 2". Grind it down. No problem.

Fastenal. Grade 8. 7/16-14. A bit long @ 3 3/4" Grind it down. No problem.

Don't like flange bolts? Don't like grinding? No problem.

I found exact matches on McMaster-Carr in about 60 seconds. Unfortunately, their site doesn't provide a useful link to an exact product, so I can't give you one. But you can start here.

Select properties on the left to narrow it down to the exact bolt you need.
