Default replacing thermostat

hello,
my 1987 jeep cherokee's thermostat is stuck closed causing it to over heat so its parked in a commuter lot until tomorrow when i plan on changing it where it is. can anyone provide me with any info on doing it? also, will a lot of antifreeze be spilled and do i have to burp the system since its a renix closed loop?

you will loose all the coolant above the level of the t-stat. less than a gallon i would think. it will need to be purged as well.

The key to this is how fast you can get the big hose tilted upwards once it`s disconnected as that is where most of the coolant will come out of. If you can take a few empty clean milk jugs or plastic bottles along and a cheapie plastic pump (Any auto parts place will sell a cheap one with clear plastic hose for like $5) to suck as much coolant out of the system as you can before hand to get it below this level. Luckily this t-stat is high up so you won`t need to drain much off to get it below the level you need. Or as a last resort just throw down an old unused thick blanket to soak up the spillage and toss it in a trash bag when you are done.
