thats a great thread, lots of stuff i can learn from it.
I think ive decided to just simply buy the upcountry suspension so that way im not needing to do syes or TC drops. my question is now how big of a tire can i fit with the upcountry

"Martlor13,
i sell tires at the moment for a living...people come in all the time saying they want a bigger tire from their 235s....bring out the same tire in a 235 and a 30 and theres literally no difference, yet you pay a premium like there is one. Once people see that they go with 235s again or 31s. Most 235s measure to 29.2 or 3 while 30s are 29.7...the width is even more miniscual....it's just not worth it when 30s are $20 more each unless you just want your tires to say 30s on the side. At least with 31s you can tell a difference. "
Since you can't do 31's? ^^^this.

most brands run very close to the same size as others....mud tires generally get closer to specified size

after more reading this weekend I think im more confused than ever.
Ive decided the upcountry suspension is what im looking for and everywhere i read I find different answers on what parts from what companies will produce the +1" lift the upcountry had. some say crowns some say dormans. I greatly appreciate all the help everyone here as provided but there seems to be a mix of opinions.
So my new question is what parts (new) will produce the upcountry suspension. leafs, shocks and coils.

Ive read from otheres that the crown leafs sag over time while the dormans dont, and that simply using Moog coils for a zj will simulate the same as the HDs from crown.
there are way to many options out there lol

I'm going with Crown because I work at a 4x4 place, and I can get Crown for pretty inexpensive. Actually, I can get MOST stuff for pretty inexpensive. We just don't have Crown up on our website yet (should be LIVE by end of April.)
I linked you to quadratec because that was easiest: They have all the crown stuff on their site. Buy from wherever you feel most comfortable - prices are pretty normalized across the internet.

Here's an idea. Use general spring medium duty leaf springs $99 x2
Rusty's 2 inch coils $119
Rusty's 2 inch steel blocks with u bolts $89
Rusty's shocks $33 x4
That's around $500. Go with 235-75-15 or 30-9.50-15 tires. Tires will be a little cheaper in these sizes, u will still have a stock like ride, won't need to trim. Shop tires on Amazon so you can find the dimensions of the tire. Some 235-75-15 are only 28.** and some are 29.**. Look for taller ones.
Some people will also say do not use blocks. If installed correctly they are fine just for lifting for tire clearance and hold up well as long as you aren't doing any extreme wheeling. I have run blocks on numerous full size pickups and so have many I know. Never with an issue. Tack welding them to the spring perch will add some reassurance if your worried. I would t to using like 6 inch blocks or anything but at 2 inches that's hardly anything.
By the way this is my plan for one of my stockers that I want to lift just for a more agressive look and it won't be too high for my kids and stuff to get in and out. Also don't want to sacrifice ride quality for daily driving and family trips. I have one with 6 inches of lift and the ride sucks.

In that case I guess its just a matter of finding oem spec springs and shocks.

I really wish I could swing the 500, but I have a limited budget with my wedding fast approaching. Ideally I would like to wait until after the wedding and pony up the money but I cant have this thing fall apart over the summer. Also I dont feel comfortable lifting it 3" because of the potential of needing to mess with an sye. I watched a video of doing an sye and its not that I couldnt do the work, Im sure I could. Its the what if I **** it up scenario that plays in my head. This is my DD to work and I cant run the risk of not having it for even 1 day.

Gotta have 31" tires
Gotta have ALL NEW suspension pieces
Gotta not spend any money
Something's got to give...
