Drop the oil pan and remove the two bolts holding the pump to the block.
Remove the main bearing girdle.
Remove the rear main bearing cap.
Use a brass punch to remove the block side of the RMS. Once it starts moving you can geab it with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Remove the bearing cap portion of the RMS.
lightl oil the new RMS halves and reinstall.
Reinstall the bearing cap.
Reinstall the girdle.

Remove the cover plate from the new oil pump and pack it full of Vaseline, re0mstall cover.
Install the new oil pump.
Transfer the oil pickup tube from the old pump to the new.
Reinstall the oil pan.
Replace the oil filter.
Add 6 qt.s of oil.

You're done.

Pulling starter makes it easier as does removing the downpipe. If the rig is not lifted, putting it on jackstands allows the front axle to hang lower and makes the pan easier to remove.

Put your floor jack under the axle, place some tall jackstands under the frame rails and remove the tires, then lower the floor jack. You should have ample room to remove the pan then.

It creates instant suction and immediately pulls oil into the pump.

no kidding.

Are you sure that it needs replacing? I would make sure that the sending unit isn't faulty first. I replaced my oil pump only to find that it had the [i]exact same problem[/] as my other one did... a bad sending unit.

10 minutes after acquiring another one, my oil pressure issue was fixed.
