I was doing really well changing the chain in the transfer case on my 99 until I got to the end when I went to put the new chain on.
I have come to realize that the tail housing has been upgraded from a slip yoke to a fixed yoke and, although I've removed the C clamp, I cannot remove the shaft from tail housing. I'd like to put the shaft into the transfer case so I can put the chain on, but because I can't get the shaft out of tail housing, I can't put the shaft into the transfer case without lifting the whole unit (including the other half of the transfer case) and it's making it impossible for me to get my fingers in to thread the new chain. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to go buy an older slip yoke tail housing?
