Replacement wheel ?
Hello all, newly minted member needing some info here. I did search past topics but didn't find definitive answer.
Long time Jeep owner but having trouble finding good info on what rims fit. Have two 99 and an 01 Cherokee and a pile of factory rims but looking for another set of 16" in order to use some windfall rubber.
I've been told that other make/model rims will fit the Cherokee but living in the sticks don't have the opportunity to just pick up a rim and check it out.
Would appreciate what ever knowledge of what will fit w/o using spacers/adaptors. Ford Ranger and mid-sized SUV was the most often suggested.
Thanks

Wheels on a 2000 Cherokee Freedom also come as 16" Silver Stars. Good luck finding those. You'd be far better off finding a fit and I believe my 1999 Ranger XLT 4x4 had 16" wheels that have the correct backspace and bolt pattern.
x2 on this. Ranger wheels should be perfect.
Well, I found and bought a set of 16" Ranger/Exploder rims. They'll need some TLC on the exterior surfaces but guaranteed to be straight and round. Here's what I found: they seem to fit snug on the hub and allow adequate threading of the lug nut. The Ford rims are thicker in the center and less backspace causing them to sit 1" outside the fender flairs. I think it will be OK since I'm only running 225 tires.
Just wanted to let you know they do fit but aren't perfect.

Update on this post.
I wouldn't recommend the use of Ranger wheels for a Cherokee. I finally got my salvage yard wheels mounted and found it impossible to get or keep them tight. Now, this may simply be a factor of the misuse/abuse of the set of rims I happened to buy OR it may be an incompatibility of the Jeep lug nuts. Either way it turns out to be a dangerous situation.
They set even the 225 tires out past the fender flares and throw more rocks, mud, whatever up the sides.
All in all, I'm very disappointed in the attempt especially after I found two of the rims unusable-one not straight and one had been run loose at some point. Don't know how that's going to turn out as the junk yard doesn't have any replacements.
I've also found that a tremendous amount of people have trouble differentiating between a CHEROKEE and a Grand Cherokee even after repeated attempts to clarify.

Here's my final thoughts on this unsuccessful rim interchange. Just pulled the two Ranger aluminum rims I'd been running on the front of my 2WD Cherokee.
After 4-5K local miles and 500 high speed(for me anyway) road miles, today I started hearing an odd click in the right front. Shook the wheel and found that the rotor is loose-as in not clamped between the rim and hub. The rim was solidly centered on the hub but did not tighten against the rotor. Doesn't seem to be any significant damage to rotor or hub but this is not safe.
At this point I certainly would not recommend attempting to use Ford Ranger aluminum rims on an XJ.
I'm hoping there's a local market for Ranger rims so I can recover at least part of my loss. Don't believe the "will fit" suggestions because they don't.

I currently have some 16" Dodge Intrepid wheels on mine, I did not purchase them they came on the vehicle. running p225 70R/16. I have had no issues other than the fact I want to replace them.
