Replacement Front Fender Quality
I'm planning to replace both front fenders on my 2001 XJ because the originals have rotted along the plastic bumper corners on each side. Are any of the aftermarket replacement fenders comparable to the originals in quality? They vary wildly in price. I figure if they're all made of tinfoil, I'll just fix my original, but I'd rather save the time if I can. Has anyone installed aftermarket fenders on their XJ?

Tagging for interest. I have a rust free Texas XJ up here in Indiana and the JY sheet metal around me has rust. At least everything I have looked at so far. Plus, it is very common for JY vehicles to have front end damage.
A good source for a OEM fender or a equivalent aftermarket would be nice.

I am in the process of installing a front fender I looked at the label on the inner box. It was made by Tong Yang in Taiwan, which these days is like being made by elves in the Black Forest compared to some other locations. Sadly I have just bought a pile of parts from different places and don't remember where this was from so unless you ask who makes whatever a vendor is selling this info is not too useful. In any case:
- it was packed well and survived shipping with no dents etc.
- it is coated/painted with something but you will need to scuff/prime/paint rustproof
-it fits and all holes etc are there
- if you are going to use oe fender flares you will need to get the flare mounting brackets, it's impossible to get the nuts off the studs of the old ones
-is this fender better than the cheaper ones? Who knows
Getting one from a JY is a great idea if you can find a good one but good luck with that

Buy used period!
While the Chineseum fender prices look inviting, they fit just like you would think they should.
I bought two replacement fenders off of Amazcrap, and they are horrible!
Holes in the wrong places, lines don't match up.................. And thinner than the factory ones.

Good suggestions.. You really need to do your homework with any replacement panels these days.. Most are exactly as being described.. There might be a quality part out there but you'll need to find it.. As stated the first question would be what gauge the panel's sheet metal was cut from.. If it's not the same thickness as factory keep looking...
