Hey all - I've got a 4-door 95 with power locks and windows, and I need to replace the latch since all of a sudden whenever I lock it I can't get the door open from the inside or the outside until I spend half an hour with a flashlight and long screwdriver to get it open. I'm having trouble tracking a replacement down; looks like the original is Mopar #55000767, Morris 4x4 has them new for $127 (ouch) and I've had a less-than-great experience with them before, so I'd rather avoid them. Anybody know if there are aftermarket options? I'd rather not get a junkyard part since I'd like to avoid this happening again for a good long while.
I had the same thing happen to my 95. An internal part of the latch failed. I ended up just grabbing a latch from a junkyard door set I had. I've not heard of any aftermarket latches, course I've also not looked. You might want to check your hinges and make sure the door isn't sagging. A sagging door will add stress to the latch and could cause failure.
Thanks, V - might be exactly what I need to do. I can tell you the doors have most CERTAINLY been through it - it's clear that they were removed at some point in time and later put back on. I had to do a lot of work to get them to latch properly, everything work again, etc. So the latch has probably had a lot of stress on it. Guess I might as well grab a junkyard one as it's bound to work better than.....well than not at all
Are you still looking for this part??? I found them, but they only have 3 left and they are steep.... I am double checking mine to see if I can repair the one I have... Mine just makes me cycle the manual unlocking from outside about 2 - 3 times before it unlocks... The rest works fine... Mine maybe worn linkage connectors or bent linkage???? The ones I found are about $140 new though....

Man, you are so kind to ask! Would you believe I can't even remember what I ended up doing since it was a year ago? I think Morris 4x4 went under and all the stock of those parts had dried up - I'm 99% sure I got a used one from somebody. But the door is working great!

All I see is a new mopar for $108. My local junkyard does not have any 84-96 XJ right now but I will just wait till they do.
Mopar part # 55000767
I’ve got a driver and passenger side door latch assembly. I had to replace the front doors on my XJ but all the power parts on the old doors worked good.
If you want to buy them, I could make a listing on eBay or something.
Man, if that driver latch is working well I would love to get it! I ended up finding a used one and put it in - was working fine but now is freezing up on me every now and then and I try lubing the heck out of it but it doesn't seem to make any difference. If it's not too much trouble I would love to get it from you!
Back when I was looking the first time I eventually got someone on the phone (maybe actually at Mopar) that said something like Mopar had discontinued it but something wasn't totally official with that yet or something, which is why companies like Crown weren't able to make cheap aftermarket ones yet. Sure wish they would!!!

Ok, let me remove it, and make sure it's working perfect. I'll post a picture. Do you just need the driver door? My Jeep is a 2dr, so I only have front ones. I guess they are probably the same for front and rear though.
Here it is. Works perfect. Nice and clicky. Make me an offer, for one or both. I can make a listing on eBay if you want. Or you could do Venmo and I just send it to you, but it's up to you. I know there is risk for you with Venmo.
Man, looks great! Thanks for pulling it. I only really need the driver - since they're around 100 new, maybe 60 plus shipping? Whatever you think is fair. And I'm happy to Venmo - currently got a zero balance so would just take a few days to transfer the money on.

Sure appreciate it!!
$60 is fine. $10 for shipping. As long as you are comfortable with Venmo it's fine with me. I boxed it up already. As soon as you send me your name and address I can purchase a shipping label and give you tracking. Then I will wait to give to USPS till I receive payment.
Here is the Venmo you should pay. https://venmo.com/code?user_id=33432...ted=1734226476
Let me know if this all works for you.
I'm hoping it's not against the rules to sell stuff not in the Marketplace section.
