replaced transfer case fluid, now makes a sounding in 4wheels drive

150,000 mile 95 cherokee sport 4.0
just had diff fluid changed in front and back and transfer case fluid changed.
was a bit rainy out tonight so i put it in 4 wheel drive, and theres this weird sound now. just kinda loud, sounding. not a terrible sound but weird to say the least.
this is my 3rd cherokee sport and ive never heard a peep outta the 4wheel drive before.
any ideas?

yes, they would.
if you dont tell them what to put in things, they just stick whatever they think in it, in most palces.
unless its a good place you can trust youll get the shaft. You should really do your own work.

Yeah you really do need to tell them exactly what to do. Replacing fluids are pretty simple jobs that you could have done yourself. I am not at all mechanically sound but have learned a lot through this forum and can now do any fluid myself. And you will be able to do the same if you take the time to search and read. It's worth it!
If I were in your current position, I'd do a search here or even get a Haynes manual (or something similar) and find out how to do this job yourself. It's really simple. And i'd replace the fluid again, even though you just got it done because it's a good possibility that you have the wrong stuff in there, hate to break it to you man.

Your chain could be loose, the fluid level could be low, they might of put gear oil in it (most tcases use gear oil, but I dont see this suddenly causing a noise), etc.
Im on my 3rd jeep, and my girlfriend has a 96, they all made a little noise in 4wd...

thanks for the info guys.
appearntly according to the invoice, they put in 2 qrts maxlife transfer case oil. and 4 grts total 75W-140 synthetic gear oil for the diffs.
i would have done this myself, but ive been really busy with work and things around the house that i just didnt have time. next time i will deff do this myself.
not excatly sure why i used it on bareroad in the rain, i guess i wanted to see if there was a difference in feel with the new fluid.
ive just never heard this sound before from any other cherokee i owned.
i did just get new tires for it too that are pretty heavy duty, maybe that has something to do with it?
