replace freeze plugs
hey,
i know this is not my post but i'll be doing the freeze plugs sometime soon just always wonder should i use rtv or just clean it really well and tap them in wihtout sealant ?

It may be possible to without removing the intake but wouldn't be easy. Removing the intake/exhaust isn't that bad and will give you full access to the freeze plugs. I recently replaced some on a used engine just because I had access and had previously had the rear one fail. If they are not leaking, I wouldn't touch them. And if you aren't willing to take the intake/exhaust manifolds off to get at them then I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

When my mechanic replaced my transmission he replaced the freeze plugs while it was put. Easiest way to get to it. But only if you have a lift at hand so you can stand under it. He also welded large washers together and used a crowbar or something of the sorts as a makeshift freeze plug puller, but then again it's all about preference, intake and manifold or transmission unless there is a third option?
