So getting to the paint to rattle can my XJ olive drab, Do i have to sand down my current paint to throw a coat of spray primer on or can i just prime right over it? Also krylon makes a spray paint called Army Green is that the same as the original Olive drab? Some insight would be appreciated thanks xD

If you plan on the paint sticking, then you better sand it! Yes the paint will stick to the primer just fine but the primer will not stick to the old paint without sanding. I would start with 300 grit, then work up to at least 500 grit sandpaper. Less likely to see the sand scratches through the new paint.

Prep the hell outta the truck. And after you think your done prepping, be ready for more work.
The preparation of the item your painting will reflect greatly in the final product. Take your time, make sure everything is properly sanded, cleaned, and taped, and it will look nice and last.
If you dont, it won't last and will look like crap.
