Renix new distrubutor no start

So put a new distributor in, marked the placement of the old and matched. Jeep won't start. Cranks strong and every third crank struggles to crank then cranks strong again. Thought it was the reman dist., put in the old and nothing changed. So any ideas? If it isn't matched up like I thought then I'll need to find TDC, sounds like a pain. But I would think it would still start but run like crap.

I know you know better...remember the books and diagrams are wrong, #1 is at 5:00 viewed from the side.
Also note, Renix will start and run fine without the inpluse insinkerator (cam position sensor). You can unplug it, it will just crank a little longer sometimes to start.
Btw Cruisers tips link is on top in the link in my sig.(rotor tip is just a hair past #1 electrode at TDC)(so the spark can reach is when the puter advances it)
