What happens with a bad TPS?
If I'm not mistaken the TPS is what controls how much fuel is being pumped into match the amount of air being introduced by different throttle positions. So you wouldn't ever have the right fuel to air mixture. Does it ever smell like it's running too rich or lean?

Yeah, it absolutely seemed to run rich. the exhaust was very stinky.

I think most of the fueling decision comes from the RPM, MAP and O2. TPS then informs shift points and mismatch between fueling and TPS informs vacuum leak error. But I'm more experienced in Subaru than Renix so I could be way off.

Then your mixtures are 100% off. I'm sure TPS isn't the only thing that affects your mixture but you have more than one point of evidence to replace that so might as well.

It's so weird, I was out messing with it, and it was showing up, I even have video of like 5 seconds before this picture, and it showed the reading from the TPS, then it just... disappeared.

It's RPM, MAP and O2 primarily, and the TPS helps determine if you're wide open throttle and rapid TPS changes will cause a mild bump in fuel to compensate.

Check that the TPS has good +5 volts and ground. Clean the ground connections, particularly at the dipstick. There is a crimped connection in the wiring hardness along the firewall on the passenger side. (see http://cruiser54.com/?p=47). Shake and wiggle the wiring harness along the fuel rail and where it jumps over to the firewall to check for frayed or broken wires.

In the 110th post of that thread Ecomike finds the distributor sheer pin broken. That is what cures his rev problem. I'm not suggesting you have a broken pin, just that there is a potential for a distributor issue. Following that repair he dorked up the plug wires and caused another problem. Your IAC was reading 0, which I believe means it is not moving to adjust your idle. This could be contributing to your high idle. Good advise from lawsoncl to validate the wiring to/from the TPS. With your ST being very low, your ECM believes the engine is running very rich, and maybe it is. The ECM will reduce fuel rates to bring the air fuel mixture back to optimum. If the ECM is getting bad information, it will be supplying the wrong amounts of fuel.

soooooo..... it has been months since I've touched my jeep. literally just sat there, I have a few things I need to do before I tackle this, but I'll be picking this up this week, I have a new CPS, just incase the one I already replaced was faulty, I have some work on the vacuum system to fix my higher idle speed, (already know what I need to do, just need to do it, didn't want to do it when it was 115° outside). Since the last time I posted, I replaced my distributor with a brand new one and it didn't do a darn thing to fix the issue, I also have set of brand new Bosch fuel injectors on the way. I'm an idiot and didn't keep the originals when I bought my replacements the first time around. The first set of injectors are part number: 0280155710 which from what I can find SHOULD work for a renix jeep, but what cruiser recommends is a 0280155746 which have very very similar specs except in resistance.
0280155710 - 200cc min @ 3bar 14.5 Resistance (ohm) - 19.04 LB/hr
0280155746 - 200cc min @ 3bar 16.0 Resistance (ohm) -19.04 lb/hr

No idea if that will make any difference at all, since I don't know what impact, if any, it will have. but it's only $50, I've spent way more on other crap trying to figure this out.

Bah, just my luck. Got my injectors installed, went to charge the battery that is dead, and my battery charger that I've had for 15 years that was a hand me down from my grandpa who had it from probably the 80's even maybe the 70's took a dump. New one will be here tomorrow.

Tomorrow your regular postal carrier will call in sick and the sub will deliver your charger to your number on a street six blocks over. That happens to me at least once a week. The post office doesn't give a single F that my carrier loses stuff every day.

I have an oz of hard shiny yellow stuff they cannot seem to find. So yeah, probably. who knows, I will admit to being pretty defeated when I realized it had kicked the bucket, and it wasn't just my gfi outlet being funny.

A mopar cps didn't fix it either. I'm going to button things up, get a new battery and take it to a shop who might be able to look at it for me.

Just skimming back through the thread - Did this start after all the initial work? Possible you have a bad plug or plug wire?
