I haven't had a ton of time to mess with it between the bad weather, school and enjoying the one good day of weather we had here. I did go to the muffler shop today though. They put a piece of pipe in so at least the noise is out the end of the tail pipe instead of right under me. I do plan to get a muffler once the backfiring is solved. It seems it may run better now though. Maybe just a hair better, or may just be an illusion since I can't hear all the terrible noises and such so well anymore. Also, since tax return is near and I've been wanting to get 4 hole injectors since before I bought the jeep I'll probably buy a set of those when my return comes and that's one more thing to check off the list too.

Now when nearing an hour of driving it starts to really lose power. I cruised down the highway for about 40 minutes, then when I got off I hit a red light and pulling from the redlight it had no power and was lurching and I thought it was going to die completely, but then I somehow got it cruising again and it was fine. Did it to me going up to the mountains too. The fuel pump also gets a lot louder as the drive goes on, so I have a feeling the fuel pump may be dying on me and/or clogged fuel system components. (Strainer, filter, injectors)

Someone near me is parting out a 98 cherokee and they want $40 for the master and newly installed booster. Should I try it? Or will it not work?

For anyone who hasn't seen, fixed the running issues by unplugging the IAT. Now I just have to find a replacement for it. Also, still plan on a dual diaphragm booster when money allows.

Alright, back with some more info and some more changes. I ended up pulling the motor and rebuilding it. In the process of reviving the old Comanche I replaced the distributor, ECT sensor (in the side of the block), o2 sensor, and made an adapter to run the Chevy IAT. I've tried multiple renix IAT, and the Chevy IAT. Nothing works, if one is plugged in it will stumble. I'm almost tempted to leave it out, but the power loss is huge with it unplugged. For around town I've just adjusted my driving to deal with it, but I took it on a long trip today and I had to pull over and unplug it because I couldn't stand it.

I'd be suspicious of a wiring issue when it's plugged in.
Got a spare eCU to try?
