I have been looking for new radiators, I want to leave it an internal cooling system because that's what it was designed for... when I swap the radiator, wheres a drain point? I want to be able to catch a majority of it so as I don't make a mess in my complex!
heres one
then this one
Also, any place where I can get a replacement fan shroud? I broke the original when I first did the water pump and thermo....
And is that Peak Rad Flush stuff any good? I may just flush it and see if that unclogs it... I should've never poured that stop leak scheisse into it.

I had a problem overheating while driving. Going between 60-70 MPH. I pull over let 'er sit for 5-10 mins and temp would come back down. I flushed my system when I got home. Burped it through the temp sensor hole, turned heat on HI stared the Jeep and let it run with cap off. Had to add coolant as it ran. Have you pulled the sensor on the back near the firewall on an incline?

No I haven't done that yet, I don't really have access to an incline at the moment... as for flushing the system, how is this accomplished with the closed cooling system? It's something i've never really done as this is my first 100k+ vehicle.... hell... 50k+ vehicle... i'm a mustang person lol

1) Fan shroud I could only find special order from a dealer. Bring $40-50 with you through, special order=not cheap. But your Jeep will run lots better with a shroud.
Don't know about WHERE is best to drain per se and what flush stuff is good but what ck1 did: yanked the lower radiator hose and let it drain before starting the pullapart. Mess was less of an issue in his driveway so "flushing" was spraying a hose up in the engine where the water pump used to be after we yanked it off. Didn't get all the rusty water out but it got most of it. I had a mechanic do another flush just afterward.
Good luck man. Don't stop until the coolant is all green and she runs cool.

I cant remember where I found the info to flush a Renix. I just searched/googled "Flush Renix" or something in that nature. I do know you have to pull A) Top radiator hose B) bottom radiator hose C)Lines to heatercore D) and one or both of the lines off of the T-stat housing.(someone else chime in if I forgot or I'm wrong) Flush with garden hose through all of the lines/fittings, through radiator, heatercore, tstat housing, engine until clean water comes out. When flushing heatercore, put your HVAC switches to "HOT" and HI. I believe thats it. Makes a mess so maybe find somewhere else to do it. Oh ya, DO NOT start your rig during this process
Sorry if that confusing, hope I didnt forget anything

Well I finally got around to diagnosing the problem. STOPLEAK IN THE HOSESSSSS. Not surprised, but didn't think it'd be that bad.

Now I went to put the thermostat back in, and I snapped the housing in half. I got a new housing and gasket, but want new bolts. What are the bolt sizes for the tstat housing? I assume they're the same metric size for all years?

If you go to Napa, they will match the bolts up for you. Be really careful when putting that housing back on. I am one of those people who overtightens everything and I did the same thing. 15lbs of torque, I usually would never use a torque wrench for only 15 lbs but better safe than sorry, I didn't have a leak and I didn't crack that aluminum housing. Good luck!

Ok guys, well the new thermostat housing is on, the fitment sucks, but it works. I ran if for a few miles, and it warmed up and sat around 160 (180 tstat), which is where it was before it started overheating. I got back to my drive way and let it idle for a few minutes and the temp started going up to 180 190 and I shut it off. I open the hood and the overflow bottle looks like a balloon, so I go back in and turn the key to on (didn't start it) and the guage creeped to 210,220 and sat there, the electric fan didn't kick on. Is this normal heatsoak post driving temp???
