I like the idea of the steel resivoir but wouldn't defeat the purpose of the epansion tank? The plastic will expand out some as pressure build from what I understand. Where would all that pressure go....

The plastic bottle does not expand, when the pressure in the bottle/cooling system reaches the cap psi rating, pressure/air is released via the cap.
The rad cap on the metal bottle does the same thing.......releases pressure when it's psi rating is reached.

I had no problems with mine either. Pressure bottle was empty, filled it 3/4 of the way and let the vehicle warm up a bit and started driving. Whether it actually sucked any fluid in or not I dont know. Doesnt look like the fluid level changed much.

A properly functioning stat in a normal operating environment DOES NOT go from closed to full open and back to closed over and over again. Once the stat begins to open, it "hovers" in an infinite number of open positions, depending on coolant temp. When driving conditions raise coolant temp to about 15* above the stat's rating, the stat will be at it's wide open position. Obviously when the stat is at wide open, it is doing absolutely nothing.....the rest of the cooling system, it's condition and driving conditions determine max coolant temp.

Well there ya go, proof that Stant makes bad stats.....so bad that one is likely to get 4 bad ones in a row.
LOL, just kidding. Guess I'm just lucky, never had a bad Stant in 50 years of farting around with cars/bikes.......(yet).
