Default Removing jeep badges

I have an 01 Cherokee which is painted black. I want to remove the badges and paint them a darker matte grey. Any tips on how to safely remove the badges and put them back on.

I never removed them but I would use a razor. Honestly I would just buy some plasti-dip. Look it up on YouTube it really works good for stuff like that. You do not need to take them off and the overspray peels off. They will probably have the color you are looking for too.

Plastic trim removal tools are available at any parts store for a few bucks. They'll make quick work of pulling those badges without damaging them, or your hands.

Fishing line works great for cutting through the adhesive. Just get the line behind the emblem and saw back and forth. It won't harm the paint as long as you're gentle. U.S. A heavy test line and try to get as close to the sheet metal as you can so you don't have a lot of adhesive left on the body panel. Amazon also has matte black JEEP badges.

A heat gun, not a torch will help a bit too. I also purchased one of the 3m eraser wheels to get the tape from the trim off of mine.

2nding the heat gun method, with a #1 flathead screwdriver and patience.
I'll try the fishing line tho!
