Default Removed transfer case, have a drip from transmission

So I just removed my np231 from my aw4 and as soon as I pulled the case, about a quarter of a quart of tranny fluid started flowing out of my transmission. I left a cup under it overnight and it seemed to stop. Then I put my new transfer case back in today and boom, it started to drip from the back of the tranny again. Is this the rear main seal? The truck has 255k miles on it by the way and I've never actually driven it because of the blown transfer case. Any ideas of what this could be? Hopefully I just have to drop the to again and replace a seal, but I don't really know which one it would be. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Edit: when this transfer case went, it blew up and cracked in half taking out the front driveshaft with it. Could this fluid just be built up fluid that got forced into the tranny when the tc grenaded? Maybe there was a little fluid in a nook or cranny that I've never seen before that I'm just overlooking?

Yes, there is fluid coming from the output shaft. Not specifically dripping from the shaft, but dripping from the bottom of the transfer case adapter. Is my rear main seal busted? I've searched a bunch, but can't get a definite yes or no

The rear main seal is at the back of the crankshaft . There's a seal on the output shaft of the transmission between the tranny and transfer case. You have to pull the case out again to get to it.

Awesome! Is that the seal that I just pull off with some pliers and then hammer a new one back in with a screwdriver? I thought that was called the rear main seal, but I am a noob with seal terminology. What is the name of the seal that I need for the tail shaft?
