Default 89 cherokee blowing hot air out a/c tryed to retrofit heard leak?

I was told that it was a waste of time fixing these old a/c and that the new r134 wouldent work good and blow cold enough in my old system ect I was kinda bummed .
Was told about having to have the old stuff pumped out leak tested sounded like a project.

Well the last couple of weeks its been really hot out so I said the heck with it im gonna price the adapters retrofit kit I picked one up and installed it because I thought we a had a big full can hanging around turns out a half of a small one only.

I figured if its not working no compressor and blowing hot air I figured it leaked most of the old stuff out. Funny because my uncle said he was pretty sure it still worked and pretty good.

So I call up my buddy he has a gauge or 2 and a big can call him over so I started the car up and turn the ac on max and hes pumpin the stuff into it and its slowly taking it from was the guy was seeing.

A min or 2 later I noticed The compressor kick in and not long after some ice cold feeling air coming out my vents. Shut the car off when it appeared in green on the guys gauge.

I hear some some sort of hissing noise from the front left side of the car I kinda look around and I notice on the side of the radiator its all wet kinda oily alil too5 mins later hot air coming again.

what is that condenser leaking??

Even if all the freon didn't leak out it wouldn't have kept working anyways. If you removed anything to install the retrofit or if it's been sitting with a leak in the system. You have to have the system vacuumed out to get out all of the air and moister or you have the possibility of seizing the compressor.
