Exclamation Removal OF TIming cover , Greeted with a HOLE in block

So heres the Technical Stuff

I have an 87 Jeep cherokee , 4.0 I6 engine , Automatic

HEres the Issue:

Firstly My jeeps engine blew a connecting rod out the block through the oil pan , not nice at all made a big ol mess....So i went an picked up an engine from an 89 Jeep cherokee "Long Block" as I am Tearing it apart to send to the machine shop for some rebuilding I come across a Hole. I removed the Timing Cover , Tming chain and Gears. I found a little hole in top right of area. its about an inch wide and looks Rigid and broke like something broke through it.. on the other side is the lifters . I checkd out my old block and theirs the same hole but not rigid and just a tad bit neater and smaller ..SO this leads to my question IS this hole acceptable? I figure the hole their is for lubrication to the timing area but will it hurt anything if the hole is a bit larger ?

I don't figure it would hurt to clean it up. Shouldn't effect the oil pressure.
