There is not a lock/unlock wire on the cherokee. There is a lock wire and there is an unlock wire. I will try to get a photo either later today or tomorrow for you.

They are on the drivers side kick panel. The one that houses the hood release.

lock wire is orange with purple stripe
unlock wire is pink with purple stripe

Thanks. I really have to learn how to read a wiring diagram.

I've seen this many a time. I can say mine are working without. Maybe it is relative to the unit you are installing or the year of Cherokee?

Thanks very much for he photo, hopefully the weather warms up so I can use it. I guess it shouldn't make a difference that my jeep has factory keyless (no alarm) entry system? as to splicing in the aftermarket remote keyless module at this same location.

Played around more today, even tried voltage detection mode to no avail.

Looked up the wiring in the fsm. Turns out there are 2 grey wires in the connector closest to the radiator (black base). One is pin 12 and the other pin 7. I want to be connected to pin 7 but was wired to pin 12 of course.

So now I can get the tach "learned". Still can't get it to start though. I get no flashing parking lights showing an error but I get no starter working either.
More investigation lay in my future I guess.

Prob is the hood pin switch not being fully depressed -we're good now.

The fact you have the factory locks without alarm is ideal. Without the factory solenoids and such you would have a lot more work and parts to buy and relays to wire. With the factory alrm you would have additional connections to make.

You have exactly what I have with the factory locks and no alarm - should be god t follow.
