Quote: BB just means Budget Boost.... Its simply slang for the entire lower end of the lifting spectrum. Supposedly cheaper and easier to install than larger and more complex lift systems. Most of the commercially available Budget Boosts contain spacers for the front coil springs and either Blocks(Worst), Shackles(Really bad) or a 'Short' AAL(bad) or Long AAL(really not bad if done correctly) for the rear lift. Longer shocks are generally not part of these types of lifts as the stock ones have enough travel to compensate.
^ See? I knew someone could better answer this than I...

Quote: And stay away from any AAL or (add a leaf) lift kit. Replace those rear leaf springs when you do your lift with new ones that give you lift. Add a leaf kits add a helper leaf to your existing factory leaf springs and if they are already sagging in the rear... it won't be worth it.
I was told that you have to be careful when replacing rear leaf springs and make sure that the replacement ones are longer than stock. What do you know about that and does RC, RE, Rusty's, etc. have these?

Also, what is a drop pitman arm and would I need an extended one with the 3" lift?

Thanks again,
s

My Rusty's kit came with greasable replacement shackles for the rear. They were about an inch longer than stock, I think.

A dropped pitman arm... oh you'll love that one. Be sure to buy yourself a long prybar with a flat end, a BFH and a pitman arm puller with a decent impact gun.

A dropped pitman arm reduces your drag link angle and helps with bump steer that lifted vehicles often experience.

Are those needed with any lift? Does a 3-3.5" lift need/benefit from one?

Thanks,

Does your rig experience any bump steer?

What is bumpsteer you ask?

Bump Steer is when your wheels steer themselves without input from the steering wheel. The undesirable steering is caused by bumps in the track interacting with improper length or angle of your suspension and steering linkages.

Drive your Jeep where you think you'll be offroading first and see what it can do stock. That's the best advice someone gave me. Get it stuck, get a buddy to pull you out then think about what happened, how you got stuck and what size lift or tires would have helped you in that situation
.Question where the heck did ur buddy tell u 2 go?

if you buy a kit with spings every thing should fit right

in my opining the rough county 3" with add a leef will fit your needs
you said you were not going to do and heavy 4X4 mostly dirt roads

I had this kit on a ranger pickup and beat the hell out of it with no problems

OK now you all can flame me for sugesting AALs

AALs arent bad if you have springs that arent already sagged.

in my opinion full packs are a wast of money. you can accomplish the same thing through a bastard pack.
o and dont forget a mix of a small shackle.and small leaf lift is the best. all shackle or all leaf will give you no flex and a bad ride

You see, it is this kind of post that blows my mind. What is a bastard pack and why is a small shackle/leaf lift best? I'm totally ignorant to lifting and suspension altogether. I'm so confused I think I'll lie in the corner and rock myself for a few hours.

Quote: i dont want to pm you but can you tell me which came first? the chicken or the egg?
Science has proven that chickens evolved from a dinosaur that was reptillian so that indicates that the egg came first and the chicken adapted and evolved. The egg is a holdover from their reptile beginnings and may eventually be lost if they continue to evolve.
