Default Rekey glovebox lock

I want to replace a busted up glovebox on a 96 that the lock is missing. I can find them in salvage yards and eBay, but want to rekey one to work with my existing door/ignition lock. Anyone ever do this? Would think it would not be too hard, just looking for someone that already knows what to do. I have watched some ignition rekey videos and I guess the process would be similar.

Then once I figure that out, I may get another glovebox lock to use it on some rear storage I want to build. Would be awesome to have everything keyed the same.

Well taking help from the locksmith to rekey lock is worth because they can do it easily and cost you much less. So make a call to local locksmith near and ask them to rekey it.

It's absolutely the same as what you looked at. They all are. And if you can't put together the right mix and match combination of tumblers with what you already have, dorman makes a tumbler kit you can buy to give you the missing ones you need.

It's not at all as complicated as it sounds.

Nothing like chiming in on a three month old thread... lol
